Scoring
The tournament scoring system is relatively complex to try and ensure that the final ranking of every coach accurately represents their performance during the tournament. This is primarily a social occassion to meet and chat with fellow Blood Bowlers so we encourage you to be a good sport and bring nicely painted teams.
As such each coach is ranked by four criteria to determine their final ranking. These are: - Tournament Score
- Strength of Opponents
- Touchdowns and Casualties
- Sportsmanship
Each round you will be asked to score your opponent on Painting and Sportsmanship out of 7. These scores are used to determine the winners of the best painted and best sportsmanship award, and very low scores will result in a penalty on their game score.
Painting

The aethestic of the game is a key part of many coaches enjoyment of the game and we want to encourage everyone
to play with and against some of the stunning teams around. We want every coach to enjoy this aspect of the game
so have penalties for playing with unpainted or partially painted minis.
We really love the use of alternative or non-standard minis, but it should be clear which player is which.
Minis should be obviously distinguishable for different positions and should clearly identify the individual player.
If you have difficulty with this you should award a 2 for painting regardless of the quality of the painting.
|
1 - All models unpainted
2 - Some models unpainted and/or you have difficulty identifying which player or position is which.
3 - All models painted
4 - Based and at least 3 colours on each mini
5 - Good Paint job
6 - Excellent paint job.
7 - Superb painting - Golden Daemon standard.

Plain white or black does not count as painted!
Support staff are very much appreciated, and may be counted towards the team´s painting score.
Scores over 4 are deliberately open to subjective interpretation. In the event of a 1 or 2 being awarded a judge may check your opponents team and overrule if he believes the score inappropriate.
Sportsmanship
|
Each round you will score your opponent´s sportsmanship out of 7.
Sportsmanship is NOT a measure of how good a game you had - but how pleasant (or not) your opponent made the experience.
Just because you lose 7-0 doesn´t mean you should award a 1, and winning 4-3 in the last turn does not mean you should give a 7 either.

1 - Awful. You´d rather eat Virral´s underpants than play them again.
2 - Poor. Argumentative or impolite.
3 - Okay. Nice enough, nothing special.
4 - Pleasant. A nice opponent. Any rules issues were resolved amicably
5 - Fun. Good friendly atmosphere.
6 - Brilliant - nicest opponent you´ve had in a while.
7 - Great - they are coming round to tea tonight to meet your sister!

In the event of a 1 or 2 a judge may ask for some justification of the score

We don´t want anyone to lose points for sportsmanship or painting. However if you turn up with an unpainted team or upset your opponent´s you won´t get those points and your final ranking will suffer as a result.
Strength of Opponents
As you may easily understand its difficult to ensure that everyone on a similar score plays opponents of equal caliber. As such the first tie-break is the sum of the game scores of your opponents. So two coaches who have otherwise identical records will be ranked based on how well their opponents have performed over the course of the tournament.
Touchdowns and Casualties
The next tie break is the differences between the touchdowns and casualties you scored and had inflicted on you. If you scored more touchdowns and casualties you gain 1 point for each additional one. Conversely if you scored fewer than your opponent you lose 1 point for each one fewer than your opponent.
All casualties count regardless of how the occurred - trip over your own shoelaces going for it still counts!
Sportsmanship
If you are still tied then sportsmanship will be used to divide you.
