Unless otherwise stated the rules from the Competition Rules Pack will be used. These supercede all previous living rule books and experimental rules.

Team Selection

  • Teams have a value of 1,250,000 gold. This is to be spent on players, skills, inducements, rerolls etc
  • This may be spent on any combination of players, inducements and skills you like, so long rules below are followed
  • All teams must start with at least 11 players (including star players)
  • You must spend all your cash
  • Inducements are restricted as per page 49 & 50 of the rule book (e.g. 0-2 star players)
  • Each rostered player on the team may be given one skill, normally accessible to them, increasing their value by 20k
  • Only the following teams are allowed. They are:
    • Amazons, Chaos Dwarves, Chaos Pact, Chaos, Dark Elves, Dwarves, Elves, Goblins, Halflings, High Elves, Humans, Khemri, Lizardmen, Necromantic, Norse, Nurgles Rotters, Ogres, Orcs, Skaven, Slann, Undead, Underworld, Vampires, Wood Elves
  • Star Players are not eligable to gain skills.
  • No optional rules (e.g. special play cards) from Competition Rules Pack will be used.
  • The Chaos Pact, Slann and Underworld teams are available to be used.

Game Play and Team Progression

  • This is a resurrection tournament. Your team resets at the end of each game, with every game you play using the exact same team.
  • No changes are permitted to your team sheet after the first game has started, so choose wisely!
  • The only part of the pre-match sequence is weather, gate and choice of kick-off
  • No inducements are available pre-game. Any unspent cash is wasted.
  • Necromancers add a Zombie for the current game only. Nurgle´s Rot has no effect.
  • No post-match sequence is necessary, as teams reset.
  • The normal rules for team progression are not used. Do not count SPPs.
  • Injuries do not carry over.
  • Illegal Procedure may only be called if both coaches agree before the game starts.
  • Timers may only be used if both coaches agree before the game starts or the organisers request it.

Over the course of the tournament you may run into situations where the rules are unclear. If you cannot resolve the issue between yourselves (and the rule book) ask one of the tournament judges. These are Ian 'Double Skulls' Williams, Richard 'Virral' Andrew and James 'Rabid Bogscum' Russell-Wills. They can’t rule on their own games - but their decision is final.

The Draw
In the the first round coaches are drawn randomnly against one another (however see below). In all subsequent rounds a Swiss system is used based on your current game score (i.e. 1st plays 2nd, 3rd plays 4th and so on). You will not play the same opponent twice and coaches on the same score play a random opponent.

However the draw has been biased so that "weaker" teams will tend to be drawn against each other when on the same tournament points, rather than against "stronger" teams. This means both that the "weaker" teams will get more games against equivalent opposition and that "stronger" teams are less likely to benefit from a lucky draw. "Weaker" teams are

  • Goblins
  • Halflings
  • Ogres
  • Vampires

League Mates
Two or more players who regularly play each other may enter themselves as a team, and will be guaranteed not to play each other on day one. On day two, however, all bets are off and you may have to play someone from your team. There are no limits on the size of a team.

We will also be running a "Best Team" prize, which will be awarded to the team with the highest score (taken as an average across all members) at the end of Day 1.

Grudge Matches
For players who want specifically play each other, the last round can be used to nominate Grudge Matches. If both coaches agree, have not already played each other during the tournament and are not in contention to come in the top three, the draw will be changed so that they can have a grudge match in the final round. Please inform the organisers of your wish for a Grudge Match on Saturday.
